Converse began in 1908 as a rubber shoe company specializing in galoshes. Soon after, it started using its rubber to make sneakers.
In 1920, Converse renamed our canvas basketball sneaker the “All Star.” The name stuck. What didn’t stick was their intention. They were to sink jump shots on the court. Consumers, however, saw them as something more and started wearing the sneakers to do whatever they wanted. Converse was worn as fashion, wore to work. They were customized with your personal styles. Converse sneakers were adorned with unlimited potential.
To this day, this spirit continues with all of our sneakers and apparel for All Star, Cons and Jack Purcell. As soon as you put them on and start doing your thing, their true life begins. They become a one-of-a-kind celebration of one's individuality and self-expression.
