In our humid climate, we wash our hair more often than we need to, sometimes up to twice a day.
But did you know if you don't dry your hair completely it might cause more harm to your scalp and hair? Now, in order to maintain a healthy mane and encourage new hair growth, you gotta protect your scalp as hair loss is sometimes irreversible!
Wet hair will encourage bacteria to grow, clog hair follicles and increase sebum production which in turn causes hair to be greasy and dull which can ultimately damage your scalp. It not only produces an unpleasant smell, but also weakens the hair thus resulting in breakage.
Smell check! To know if your hair smells, simply rub 2 fingers on your scalp and then smell them you would be able to know.
A BIG no no would be to go to bed without drying your hair as this encourages mould and bacteria to grow on both your pillow and your scalp. (#horrorstory) Plus the twisting motions while sleeping will cause the hair shape to be deformed.
So what's the difference?
Natural Dry - Most of us will leave our hair to dry naturally; it might work if you have short or cropped hair. But we don't recommend natural drying for any hair length that falls below the ear.
Towel Dry – Do not twist or rub with a towel to dry the hair. Try using the ‘Scrunch' technique - go through starting from the scalp and move gently to the hair ends. If you have thick and luscious hair beyond medium length, towel dry may not be sufficient.
Blow Dry - Best option for all :D It's the only method that dries hair completely and in the shortest time frame without giving bacteria a chance to grow.
Choose from a range of hairdryers including professional models used in salons.
Tip: Always hold the hairdryer at an arm's length as this prevents strong heat from blowing onto your face or scalp. Use a detangle brush to keep your hair shape in place when your hair is semi dry.
