2007 22 March – Official launch of a year long of celebrations for the TANGS 75th Anniversary
25 March – Key participant in Singapore Fashion Festival 2007 featuring PlayLab’s inaugural runway show and Wardrobe Women (showcasing special 75th Anniversary Collectibles from Martina Pink, Coat’s, Myra b. and Studio).
October – On 20 October, TANGS opened its first store in Malaysia at its latest retail development, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, a seven-story shopping mall in Bukit Bintang, right in the city centre of Kuala Lumpur.

7 October – TANGS VivoCity was launched at the VivoCity, occupying 85,000 sq.ft.

2004 8 February – As a result of consolidating the Group’s business, TANGS Department Store (Trading) Sdn Bhd ceased operations on 8 February
9 February – C.K. Tang Limited’s privatisation plans were turned down by minority shareholders. C.K. Tang Limited remains as a public-listed company. 31 March – Closure of TANGS Department Store at Star Hill Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
June – TANGS Beauty Hall launches a new fragrance retailing concept – Scent Bar which offers over 50 fragrance collections from established, prestigious and mainstream fashion designers
10 November – Official relaunch of fashion floors on levels 2 & 3 at TANGS main store. 7 new fashion retail concepts were introduced i.e.
Level 2 – TANG + Co (women), Dressing Room and Wardrobe Women
Level 3 – TANG + Co (men), PlayLab (men & women), Technobay & Wardrobe Men

2003 31 March – Sale of the property at Star Hill Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur to YTL Land Sdn Bhd was legally completed. TANGS Department Store (Trading) Sdn Bhd entered into a tenancy agreement with YTL Land Sdn Bhd for a period of one year, commencing 1 April 2003.
16 June – C.K. Tang Limited obtained a specific advance facility from Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited to repay the existing $110 million loan with United Overseas Bank Limited.
September – Tony & Tina and Stella McCartney, international beauty and fragrance brands respectively were launched exclusively at TANGS Beauty Hall.
October – C.K. Tang Limited renews co-brand credit card agreement with Citibank N.A., not only enhancing its loyalty programme privileges for its TANGS-Citibank Visa credit card, but also extending its loyalty programme privileges to all other Citibank credit card and Ready Credit customers, with the exception of other co-brand credit cards.
14 November – TANG + Co opened in Ngee Ann City, #B1-05. It occupies 1,076 sq. ft. of space.

2002 April – The Corporate Marketing and Loyalty Management division was officially formed from the amalgamation of corporate gifts, e-business and loyalty cards management departments. The division handles 2 business areas – Loyalty Programme Management and Corporate Services - Gifts and Redemption.
April – TANGS also launched the TANGS Corporate CARE Card and CARE Plus, a new non-credit loyalty programme for companies. These programmes aim to help companies enhance their staff welfare programme or customer loyalty programme by extending to them shopping benefits and privileges at TANGS.
April – The new Seed, FCUK, Nike and Adidas counters opened on Level 3 at TANGS.
April – The new Beauty Hall was launched with the introduction of new concepts and brands such as Escentials, Stila, Shu Uemura and Dr Hauschka.
November – The Dockers store at TANGS launched their revolutionary “discovery concept” in their fitting rooms. TANGS was the first in Singapore to have such a retail concept in place.
14 November – C.K. Tang Properties (M) Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary company of C.K. Tang Limited, sold its shopping premises at Star Hill Shopping Centre at Kuala Lumpur to YLT Land. The property was sold for RM77 million (approximately S$35.69 million). Concurrent with the sale, TANGS will continue to operate its department store business at Star Hill under a lease agreement with YLT for a period of a year.

2000 3 September – Mr. C. K. Tang passed away.
17 November – The new Men’s floor on level 3 at TANGS was officially launched.

1999 January – TANGS Studio Shoes in Penang closed. January – Opening of TANGS Shoes at Causeway Point.
February – TANGS Studio at Ngee Ann City was officially closed.
August – Basement 1 renovations at TANGS began.
September – Level 1 renovations began.
21 October – TANGS Studio officially opened at Centrepoint.
Island Juice & Java opened at the heart of Tang Plaza, located between TANGS and Marriott Hotel.
18 November – 5S, an exclusive cosmetics brand, opened its flagship counter at TANGS.
20 November – IPSA, an exclusive cosmetics and fragrance brand opened its flagship counter at TANGS.
17 December – The new TANGS Home and the TANGS Market were officially launched.

1998 C. K. Tang announced the incorporation of Gamut Marketing into the Singapore Stores group.
September – C. K. Tang signed a SAP contract with Arthur Andersen Business Consulting and SAP software.
September – Opening of “Mummy’s Little Darlings” – a specialty boutique dealing in children’s merchandise at the Forum Shopping Mall. October – Opening of TANGS Studio Shoes at Centrepoint Shopping Centre.
November – TANGS Studio was officially relocated to level 2 TANGS mainstore.

1997 C. K Tang’s stake in Bianca was divested.
Launch of the co-brand TANGS/Citibank Visa Card. The first retail store to have embarked on such a project. Offers consumers the opportunity to Shop, Wine & Dine For Free.
Opening of a 1,200 sq. ft TANGS Studio Shoes boutique in Bukit Jambul Complex, Penang. This was the first-ever franchise of TANGS Studio Shoes. TANGS Studio opened in TANGS KL.
October – The TANGS Furniture Shop, spread over 4,000 sq. ft is set up at Trademart Singapore.
October – Further expansion in Malaysia, with the opening of another TANGS in Sunway Pyramid. This store occupies a space area of 20,000 sq. ft.

1996 TANGS Studio underwent restructuring and re-alignment and is now positioned as THE place to go for all fashion needs, occupying an area of 7,165 sq. ft in TANGS flagship store.

1995 October – TANGS Kuala Lumpur opened its doors for business in Star Hill Shopping Centre, Malaysia.

1993 TANGS Studio relocated to Ngee Ann City, occupying three levels. In place of the previous TANGS Studio at Scotts Shopping Centre, NEX.IS was created to cater to the needs of the trendy youth.

1991 Joint-venture with Punca Makmur Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Taiping Consolidated Berhad, acquiring 160,000 sq. feet of retail space in Star Hill Shopping Centre, Malaysia.
C. K. Tang acquired 75 per cent interest in Bianca (S) Pte Ltd, which was involved in manufacturing and marketing clothes designed by local designer Peter Kor, under the labels “Bianca” and “Peter Kor”.
Togam Marketing Pte Ltd was set up to market and retail international brands ~ Episode, Jessica, Excursion, and Color Eighteen.

1988 TANGS Studio opened at Scotts Shopping Centre. It was a store designed to appeal to and meet the needs of Singapore’s young professionals.

1982 Construction of the new store was underway. Size was six times larger than that of the old one. When the store TANGS Superstore opened its doors on 26th June, Mr. Tang walked into the new building with the two tin-plated trunks which had accompanied him across the seas to Singapore in 1923.

1975 C. K. Tang (S’pore) Pte Ltd was changed to C. K. Tang Ltd, with listing on the Stock Exchange of Singapore.

1969 17 January – C. K. Tang (S’pore) Pte Ltd received the Certificate of Incorporation of Private Company.

1964 18 July – C. K. Tang Ltd was dissolved.

1961 4 March – C. K. Tang (S) was incorporated.

1958 Mr. Tang moved his operations to Orchard Road. He bought a piece of land to set up the new C. K. Tang Department Store. Many of his friends dissuaded him from doing this; reason being at that time, the piece of land was facing a spread of graves. Mr. Tang had the foresight to see that Orchard Road would eventually become a great commercial centre.

1954 16 March – C.K. Tang Ltd was registered.

1942 Japanese Occupation (World War II), the Japanese took over the building.

1940 As business kept expanding, Mr. Tang bought over six adjacent shops across the street from the original and built a new three-storey building named Gainurn Building, in memory of his late father. The first C. K. Tang was established.
Business continued to flourish. In addition to his specialty in drawnwork, Mr. Tang also had antique furniture and Chinese art and craft items. His camphor chests proved to be particularly popular.

1932 As his drawnwork was of such high quality, his clientele soon increased many fold, such that it became quite impossible to continue door-to-door sales. A shop was then set up in River Valley Road.

1930 Mr. Tang returned to China, got married and brought his wife and mother to Singapore.

1923 Mr. Tang Choon Keng arrived in Singapore from Swatow at the age of 21. All he had was two tin-plated trunks, one containing his clothes and the other stuffed with $2,000 worth of lace and drawnwork. He set up his door-to-door business with the help of a hired rickshaw.
